Cool Stuff coming soon for gamers

As usual, sharing some stuff which is cool. This article from Idris of idea couture is something that will probably take the gaming industry to next level.

I am personally not a gamer but from the look of it, the younger C generations will definitely pick this up fast once introduced. Gone are the days of Pacman (although google recently re-introduced it with free downloads).

I would like to add that as for the older generations above their 40's, the acceptance will be somewhat slower as pointed out by Idris,"hard core gamers finished a day at work and all they needed is a beer, sat down on a couch and pick up a controller to play a few hours. I don't think they like the idea of jumping around"

How will gaming turn out to be in the next few years? I guess the best insights and tips is to take a look at Hollywood sci-fi TVs shows and movies related to IT and Tech.

Is Motion Gaming The Next Big Thing? Can Sony Make A Come Back?

Screen shot 2010-05-25 at 9.25.56 AM
The video game industry have been reporting some slowing down and there is a shift in terms of top selling games, the list was been dominated by Wii and Xbox titles for a more than 18 months. Just last month, 4 of the top 10 were for the PS3 ( God of War III, the top seller, with 1.1 million units sold). This is good news for Sony. PS3 is not question a better built console, free network gaming and high performance. But at the time of launch it was an overkill.

Three years later, Sony will soon be showing off the PlayStation Move, a belated response to the Wii which was highly successful attracting non-consumers. Can they take advantage of what the Wii has started or they are going to take the idea further and beat Nintendo at their own game. Now the Wii trend is almost over.

iPad selling like hot cakes

It was over a presentation last Thursday when a business partner who got his iPad from the States used it for the presentation. I immediately fell in love with it! It was cool, the colors are rich and the picture quality is good and very user-friendly touchscreen too.

Unfortunately for people like me who do not have business trips to the USA, I have no choice but to wait for it until Apple launched it in Asia sometime on July 10, and that is only in Singapore together with 9 other countries.

I also read that iPad is selling fast in US with sales hitting the 200K mark per week and outsold Macs estimated at 110K units.

iPad Still Selling Like Crazy, Sold-Out at Most Apple Stores

According to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, in most of Apple’s retail stores in the U.S. the iPad is either sold-out or in very limited supply, especially the 3G model.
Furthermore, Apple’s online store now lists that iPad is shipping in 7-10 days (previously it was 5-7) days, which also indicates that Apple is selling more iPads than it anticipated.
“Seventy-four percent of the stores we checked were completely sold out of all iPad models, 26 percent had some WiFi models in stock, and no stores had any 3G models available,” Munster claims.
iPad sales have been phenomenal from the very beginning. Earlier this month, Apple announced it had sold one million iPads. On May 28, iPad is slated to begin shipping in European countries. The question is: Will Apple have enough iPads to satisfy the demand?

Global Social Media Trends - Asia Impact

Check out this SlideShare Presentation: As we moved forward to an even more CONNECTED world, this slide shows the rising trend and usage of social media in our everyday lives. Marketers and brand owners whether they like it or not, the early adopters of this trend will definitely have a better competitive advantage, an upper hand over the 'somewhat skeptics'

Unfortunately in Indonesia and in my work, I come across more of the 'somewhat skeptics' as opposed to the early adopters. I am still hopeful things will change when they hear more on how we can leverage in a more synergistic approach between the traditional and new media.

Thanks to Tom Smith of Trendstream for the insights.

Social Media Trend

The rapid growth pace of technology, the rapid growth rate of mobile apps and easy interface of APIs is set to change the way people interact, connect and share. There is no turning back in terms of technology advancement and at the rate it is going, it will be a matter of days newer platform will surface and be adopted. The question then lies in what we do, how we adopt and adapt and how this explosion will affect the practitioners and advocates. The future is mobile: anywhere, anyplace, anytime

Mind boggling for those who are starting to get a grip on what's happening, what more to those who are not connected at all.

Here's a take from one of my favorite sites, http://takemetoyourleader.com/ talking about social media which I find most useful for a late starter like me.

Social Media 2012 : 11 trends you should watch
"It’s easy to get caught up in today’s trends or even focus on the next six months. Some of 2009’s biggest trends included an increased emphasis on real-time search and information distribution, while distribution of marketing content in widgets and other pieces of portable content that worked across devices and social spaces also saw its stake rise. Plus, there were great improvements in social-media monitoring and analytics. And most notably, marketers finally acknowledged that social media was more than just a fad, with almost complete adoption by all major marketers"
